Lights switched off in support of Anna Hazare in Ahmedabad

A few societies and commercial complexes in Ahmedabad held a quiet protest in support of Anna Hazare's fight against corruption.

Acting on Hazare's appeal to switch off lights on August 15 for one hour from 8 pm to 9 pm, societies at Mithakali, Naranpura and Maninagar switched off their lights from 8 pm to 9 pm to give momentum to Hazare's indefinite hunger strike.

"By switching off the lights, we showed the government what we can do to support the Lokpal Bill and Anna Hazare, and fight back against corruption," a resident of Mithakali, Jayesh Patel said.

A resident of Maninagar, Raj Kapoor could not make it on time to switch off lights at his home, but was in for a surprise when he reached home.

"I was the one who messaged everyone to switch off lights and
was feeling guilty as I couldn't reach home on time to do so. But on reaching home, I saw my 81-year-old father sitting in the dark, with all the lights switched off. If a senior citizen like him has decided to fight back then what is stopping the government from acting and implementing on the Lokpal Bill?" Kapoor asked.
