A special Lokayukta court today rejected the bail plea of Katta Jagadish, a city corporator and son of a state minister, who was arrested for allegedly offering bribe to a witness in a land compensation case.

Special judge Chandrashekhar Hippargi rejected the bail application of Jagadish, arrested by Lokayukta police on September 30.

The Lokayukta police objected to the bail plea on the ground that Jagadish had been threatening and inducing witnesses to give a deposition in his favour in the case pertaining to irregularities in payment of compensation to land owners by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board.

In an embarrassment to the ruling BJP in Karnataka, Jagadish, son of IT & BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, was arrested for offering a bribe of Rs one lakh to a witness in the case. He had been remanded to judicial custody till October 12.
