Describing Kashmir as an international issue, moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference today said the solution to the lingering problem lay in dialogue.

"Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Kashmir are international issues and dialogue is the only way to resolve them," Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told a religious function at Anantnag, 55 km from here.

Referring to his recent visit to Saudi Arabia and Geneva, Mirwaiz said he felt "satisfied that the Kashmir issue has attained a priority at the world level and pressure is building on India for its resolution."

"The entire world feels that peace, prosperity and development in the sub-continent is linked with Kashmir issue," he said adding it is because of the efforts of the international community that India and Pakistan are starting the snapped dialogue afresh.

However, he said, "Unfotunately the attitude of New Delhi is still negative as neither any step is being taken in making the situation conducive for dialogue at the ground level nor Kashmiris provided any sort of relief".

Expressing serious concern over the "social evils" in the society, he appealed people to set up committees at locality, village, town and district levels to eradicate this menace.

"Various agencies are active to deviate our youth from the right path. It is our responsbility to reverse the trend of moral degregation as the key to the success of our ongoing freedom struggle lies in adopting good values," Mirwaiz said.
