Kankaria balloon rises once again!

Finally, after months of waiting, the hot-air balloon was re-opened in the city on Sunday evening by the city's civic body. The re-opening programme was a special treat for orphans and differently-abled children who were invited for a balloon ride on Sunday.

It may be recalled that the hot air balloon ride had been non-functional since June this year due to a puncture caused by a dust storm. After approvals from several government bodies and obtaining an import license, a replacement balloon was brought from London to Gujarat by cargo. The hot-air balloon, which can levitate to a height of up to 150 metres, will serve as an added attraction for children during the Kankaria carnival.
