Justice Ferdino Inacio Rebello was today sworn in as the chief justice of the Allahabad High Court.
He was administered the oath of office by Uttar Pradesh governor BL Joshi at a ceremony held inside the court premises which was attended, among others, by Advocate General Jyotiindra Mishra and other members from the bench and the bar.
Born on July 31, 1949, justice Rebello began his legal practise in 1973 at judicial commissioner's court, Panaji.
He started practising at the Panaji bench of Bombay high court in 1982 where he made a mark in service, constitutional and local self-government matters.
He was elevated to the position of an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court in April, 1996, and became a
permanent judge two years later.
Before taking up his latest assignment, justice Rebello was a senior judge at the Mumbai high court.
