An unemployed computer technician on Sunday was caught stealing internet cables from a commercial complex on CG road. Police said that the man had recently married the girl he was in love but had lost his job after that. As he had earned nothing for the last one week, he desperately needed money. Hence he had stolen the cables which are worth Rs 3000, the police said.

Navrangpura police said that one Praful Prajapati, 22, had entered Anand Mangal complex on CG road at 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday afternoon. Most offices in the complex were closed as it was a Sunday.

Finding the place deserted, Prajapati, a resident of Shrinath apartment in Chankyapuri, stole broadband cables from the 3rd and 5th floor of the complex.

However, when he came down, the watchman stopped him and asked him about the wires he was carrying. Without answering the watchman, Prajapati started running away but the watchman caught him after a chase and handed him over to the Navrangpura police.

Sources in the police said that Prajapati is not a professional thief. He is a qualified technician and, after doing an automobile engineering course from ITI, had been working for a computer company as field engineer. He recently got married to a girl with whom he was in love. However, he lost his job a week back and was desperately in need of money. This had driven him to steal the internet cables, the sources said.
