The Jamnagar police have initiated an investigation with history-sheeters and detained and interrogated as many as seven people including three people earlier arrested for the thefts in the Jamnagar Palace.

The police is suspecting that the theft in the Jamnagar Palace could have been carried out with the help of an insider. "The thieves were literally living in the palace for the last one month, which indicates someone very familiar with the palace could be involved in it," a police source said.

The police have so far neither arrested anyone nor have they been able to trace any initial success in the investigation. Inspector general, Rajkot range, Manoj Shashidharan visited the Jam Bungalow Palace on Tuesday.

"We are betting on the evidences collected by forensic science experts," a police soruce told DNA. The source further said that the police is still struggling to find out the exact articles stolen from the palace, as the present Jamsaheb Shatrushalyasinh Jadeja had not reached Jamnagar.

Meanwhile, forensic science experts are using their expertise to record the finger prints and the footprints present in the palace. "Nothing concrete has yet been done in the investigations," a source said.

Despite several attempts the district superintendent of police, Jamnagar, RV Jotangia and the police inspector of 'B' division police station were not contactable.

However, sources in the police department said that they have started to keep a watch on the second hand markets in and near Jamnagar, where the stolen articles could be sold.
