Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha today reacted with a tinge of sarcasm to his nomination to the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), saying this is what his party found him worthy of despite he having held the post of a union minister for five years.

"I am grateful that the party has bestowed this stupendous honour of nominating me to the prestigious Public Accounts Committee. After serving as union minister for five years and presenting several budgets, this is what the party found me worthy of," Sinha told reporters outside Parliament.

Sinha hinted that the party could have offered him the chairpersonship of one of the several House and Standing Committees of Parliament that would be offered to the party.

"In BJP talent waxes and wanes like the moon. It does not improve with time," Sinha lamented.

BJP had filed nominations of Jaswant Singh, Sinha and Gopinath Munde to the PAC under its quota of three Lok Sabha MPs. Since the government has offered chairpersonship of this Committee to BJP, Jaswant as the senior-most of the three BJP MPs, is likely to head it.

While Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi are likely to head the Standing Committees on External Affairs and Finance respectively, Sinha has not been offered any chair. Sources said since Sinha has handled both External Affairs and Finance portfolios, he could have been offered chairpersonship of these committees.
