Hooda's chopper makes unscheduled landing due to bad weather

A chopper ferrying Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from New Delhi to Punjab was today forced to make an unscheduled landing here due to inclement weather.
 
The chief minister, his political advisor Virender Singh who was accompanying him and the helicopter crew were safe, Superintendent of Police of Hisar Navdeep Singh Virk said.

62-year-old Hooda and Singh were on their to Muktsar when due to "bad weather" his chopper had to make an "unscheduled landing" at Hisar, 160 km from Delhi, the SP said.

Hooda later returned to the national capital by road.

Heavy rainfall lashed many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh disrupting normal life in the region today.

Earlier this month, a chopper ferrying Andhra Pradesh chief minister YSR Reddy had crashed in inclement weather, killing him and four others on board.

Just days earlier, a helicopter carrying Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was forced to make an emergency landing at Jalalabad in Ferozepur district due to some technical fault in the helicopter.
