The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court today reserved its order on an application seeking withdrawal of a PIL challenging a special CBI court's order to drop proceedings against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati and her cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui in the Taj corridor scam due to lack of prosecution sanction.
A division bench comprising justice Pradeep Kant and justice Shabeehul Hasnain passed this order on an application filed by Anupama Singh seeking withdrawal of the PIL.
Two other petitioners Kateel Ahmad and Kamlesh Verma have also filed PILs in the same matter, which are pending before
the high court.
Earlier the high court had issued notices to Mayawati and
Siddiqui regarding the issue. A reply was filed on behalf of
the chief minister which stated that PILs are not maintainable
and are liable to be dismissed.
The court fixed April 12 as the next date of hearing.
