Gun battle between Maoists, securitymen in Orissa

Security personnel were today engaged in a fierce gun battle with Maoists in Orissa's Koraput district, police sources said.

The exchange of fire between the security personnel and the ultras took place in Gumandi forest under Narayanpatna police station limit, about 100km from Koraput, they said.

"We are yet to get exact information from the encounter site. Details about the outcome of the exchange of fire will be available only when the operation is complete," a senior official said.
