The Congress on Friday dropped a bombshell when it released a CD claiming that it contained ‘proof’ that one of the BJP MLAs accused of watching porn in the assembly was indeed doing so.
This came on a day when the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Gandhinagar, gave a clean chit to the two BJP MLAs.
Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia claimed that the CD, given to them by a person, clearly showed that BJP MLA Jetha Bharwad was watching obscene pictures.
"The FSL report is as per Narendra Modi's direction. We have proof that Jetha Bharwad was watching obscene pictures in the assembly," said Modhwadia. He added that it was interesting that only MLA Shanker Chaudhary's name was being bandied about when Bharwad was also involved in the incident.
Raising doubts over the FSL report, he said that the Opposition had demanded that the iPad be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
"Everyone knows how much credibility the FSL carries. On March 21, the FSL director was called to the chief minister's office. The director was given a cover by the PA of the Vidhaan Sabha secretary. The report of the FSL was made in the CM's office itself," Modhwadia alleged.
He also reminded mediapersons about the Ishrat SIT's raid on FSL offices. Modhwadia further alleged that one can't be sure if FSL, Gandhinagar, was indeed given the same iPad that the two MLAs had used or some other one. "A lot can happen in 24 hours and switching iPads wouldn't have been that difficult," said Modhwadia.
Alleging that the Speaker was hand-in-glove with the ruling party, Modhwadia said that, as per rules, the materials were to be given to the Privilege Committee. "The Privilege Committee has not even questioned those involved in the incident but, even before that, the party and the Speaker are busy giving them a clean chit," said Modhwadia.
