A youth from Gujarat was among those who were killed in the Maoist attack at Gadhchiroli in Maharashtra on Tuesday morning. While the CRPF has lost one of its men in the incident, a family has lost its old age support. The district administration has decided to cremate the solider with full honours.

Digvijay Vasava, 27, a resident of Juna Umarpada area of Umarpada taluka in Surat district and posted in the CRPF as a solider, died in the Maoist attack at Gadhchiroli. He was among the 12 persons who suffered  serious injuries in the attack and died on the spot. News of Digvijay's death shocked his family members.

"He was a patriot from childhood and always wanted to join the defence forces. He was very happy the day he was selected in the CRPF. Can't believe he is no more," said Surji Vasava, Digvijay’s father with tears. While Surji somehow controlled his emotions, Digvijay's mother became semi-conscious after hearing her son’s news.
