Four of family die of food poisoning in Gujarat

Four members of a family, including three girls, allegedly died of food poisoning in Fathepura village here today, police said.

The incident came to light early this morning in Fathepura village when some people called in the emergency service after seven members of a family were found unconscious in their house, they said.

According to police, the family members were first taken to local government hospital but were later refereed to Godhra civil hospital in neighbouring Panchmahal district.

Four members died during treatment, while condition of three is stated to be critical by doctors there, they said.

Those dead have been identified as Vanita Pargi, 8, Rekha Pargi, 15, Pushpa Pargi, 20 and Tikabhai Pargi, 58.

Police said that primary cause of death seems to be food poisoning, but actual reason could be ascertained only after the postmortem of the victims.

They said that the house of the victims has been sealed and further investigation in the matter was on.
