After every fast, the Gujarat CM spends at least 2-3 hours with district BJP units' office-bearers to assess party's strength.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been utilising his Sadbhavana Mission fasts in the districts not only to influence people but also to assess the BJP's strengths and weaknesses in the districts. Sources in the state government and the BJP said that the CM meets people during the day at the fast venue but he meets party's district-level leaders at night after the function is over. And it is not only party leaders but also officers involved in organising the event who are also assessed for their efficiency and performance.
With the fast in Bhavnagar on Saturday, Modi has fasted 11 times in different cities of Gujarat, including the grand event at Ahmedabad with which the Sadbhavana Mission began. At every place, he has held meetings with party leaders of the district concerned and also with the officials of the district administration involved in organizing the fast event.
Sources in the BJP indicated that as political and caste equations have changed significantly in many assembly constituencies because of the recent delimitation exercise, the party is doing 'micro-planning' for next year's assembly elections.
Sources said that the recent delimitation exercise had changed the voter demography in many constituencies, leading to a redrawing of the political and casted equations in these places.
"As a party, we are always election ready. But after the recent delimitation exercise, political and caste equations have changed because of the inclusion (or exclusion) of certain areas from the affected constituencies. Hence, old strategies have to be replaced by new ones for these seats before the next assembly elections," a source said. Its all about SWOT analysis, p7
