A large number of migratory Flamingo birds from Australia have arrived in this island more than a month after the conclusion of the season, a forest department official said today.

The wading birds were supposed to arrive in January, but the vagaries of the season mean they have made their appearance now, forest department official Thilakaraj said.

He added that thousands of Flamingos could be seen hunting for fish from Rameswaram to Dhanushkodi.
