Gujarat State Police Housing Corporation (GPHC) is all set to host the first All India Police Housing Conference from March 4 as a part of Swarnim Gujarat celebrations.

Chief minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the two-day conference to be held at Ahmedabad Management Association.
Police officials from different departments like Intelligence Bureau, CISF, NCB and officials from police housing corporations of various states of the country will attend the meet. Among other topics, the forum will particularly focus on technologies adopted by GPHC to cater to the housing needs of police officials across the state.

GPHC, incorporated in 1956, has achieved a target of constructing over 5,000 different residential and non-residential buildings for the state police.

The corporation will exhibit the types of construction, new technology and allotment of the houses to the police officials.
"So far, a police constable was entitled to get a one-room-kitchen house. From this year onwards, it will be a two-rooms-kitchen house," K Nityanandam, additional director general of police (ADGP) and managing director of GSPHC, told reporters at  a press conference.

Nityanandam further said that 80% of the police officials of the state have been allotted houses. "This the highest percentage of providing accommodations to police staff in any state of the country," the ADGP added.
