Family of five held for double murder in Erode

Five members of a family were arrested in connection with a double murder case here, police said today.

The bodies of two persons were found on the Mettur-Ammapet main road with some injuries two days back. Investigations reveald that the five had murdered Karthikeyan, a tax driver, after he was asked to come to their house.

The family members had earlier asked Karthikeyan to return some phographs showing him with one of the members of the family and he had allegedly demanded Rs four lakhs.

When he came to their house on Saturday, they killed him using lethal weapons. His cousin Sakthivel, who was waiting outside was also murdered when he entered the house following an alarm raised by Krthikeyan.

They later threw the bodies on the road.
