Family alleges torture by police in senior citizen's death

A senior citizen, who went to police station to lodge a complaint early Sunday morning, died later at a hospital with his family alleging that he was beaten up by cops. However, police denied the charges saying 65-year-old Sant Ram died due to heat attack.
 
The deceased had gone to Kaushambi police post early this morning to lodge a complaint over some property dispute. At the police post, he felt severe pain in his chest and was taken to a private hospital where he died, police said.
       
However, his family alleged that he was tortured by the policemen deployed at the post due to which he suffered a heart attack. Police have sent the body for postmortem and are investigating the matter.
