The eight fishermen were released owing to their old age and condition of their families back home, they said.

PMSA had seized four boats and arrested 21 fishermen alleging they entered Pakistani waters bordering Sir Creek area in Jakhua port in Kutchh district illegally.

After interrogation, PMSA officials allowed "Divya Prakash" boat to return to its base in Porbandar and took away 13 fishermen in three seized Indian boats identified as Vishwajit, LaxmiSarovar and Krishna Raj to Karachi port in Pakistan yesterday.

When eight fishermen released by Pakistani authorities reached "Navi Bandar" near Porbandar late last night, they were interrogated by state and central government agencies.

In their statements recorded with the Navi Bandar police station, the fishermen said, "We were released due to our old age and health conditions and poor state of our family members."

None of the released fishermen complained about any type of ill treatment by the PMSA during interrogation, officials said today.
