A man accused of murdering his wife finally had his wish to undergo a narco analysis test fulfilled on Saturday. Dr Purshottam Soni had to go to the Supreme Court to ensure that a Narco analysis test was done on him by the Forensic Science Laboratory in a case involving the mysterious murder of his wife Dr Sheila Soni.

On Saturday, Dr Soni was taken to the FSL, Gandhinagar where a narco test was done on him. Sources said that the test went on late till evening and is likely to continue for two more days.

Dr Purushottam was booked by the police in the mysterious murder of his wife Dr Sheila, a BJP leader in the Mandal town of Ahmedabad.

Dr Soni, who has constantly denied any involvement in the murder, had himself asked the police to conduct a narco and brain mapping test on him. But, for some reason the police was reluctant to carry out the test. Even the state government, that had taken a keen interest in the case, had filed an appeal before the Supreme Court against the high court order that gave a green signal to such a test.

The apex court also criticised the government for its unwillingness to conduct such a test to help solve the case when Soni himself was willing.

Dr Sheila was found murdered with her throat slit at her bungalow in Mandal in 2001. The murder sent ripples in the political circles as Dr. Sheila was the president of the BJP's women's cell of Mandal.
