There seems to be some confusion in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) whether its report on the Commonwealth Games has indicted Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for irregularities.
While the CAG report tabled in Parliament on Friday said that Dikshit had knowledge of wasteful expenditure to the tune of Rs30 crore related to the Commonwealth Games (CWG), deputy CAG Rekha Gupta denied it.
"Nowhere has the CAG report accused CM (Dikshit) of anything. We have not said anything of this kind in our report," Gupta told reporters here.
According to the CAG report, the decision to use imported street lights on selected roads was not based on technical parameters, but was taken with the active involvement of the chief minister, which resulted in avoidable expenditure of more than Rs30 crore.
