‘Cop of the month’ at all police stations in Ahmedabad

Following the trend of 'corporate culture,' the city police will now announce 'cop of the month' at every police station falling under Sector One. This was announced on Friday during the felicitation of several police officials and citizens for their outstanding work and bravery on the occasion of police commemoration day which is celebrated every October 20.

"In order to boost the morale of police officials at police station levels we have decided to announce 'cop of the month'. We will choose the most outstanding officer and his picture along with the description of his work will be put on display at the police stations," said Ajay Tomar, joint commissioner of police, Sector One.

On the occasion of police commemoration day, Tomar felicitated six citizens for the bravery they displayed while facing criminals. The list of citizens includes Mahesh Giri, resident of Bhagyoday tenement, Vejalpur, Anusuya and her daughter, residents of Vasna, Vicky Tomar and Purushottam Vankar, Amit Sharma, security guards, and Govind Patel.

Five cops were also felicitated on the occasion. They were head constable Bhagwan Patil, constable Sandeep Patel posted at Vastrapur police station and constable Khemraj Daljibhai, Lok Rakshak Dal jawan  Kishoresinh Pratapsinh and Jogabhai Kanwarbhai from Satellite police station.

These cops had solved several cases including the capture of a gang of four-wheeler thieves which led to the detection of ten similar offences. The list also includes five cases of chain snatching and laptop stealing. JCP Ajay Tomar and Sandeep Singh, deputy commissioner of police, Zone One, felicitated the cops and citizens with certificates.
