Alleging disparity in ticket distribution for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, a group of about 200 Congressmen in Bahraich on Wednesday protested at a venue of Rahul Gandhi's meeting.

The Congress workers, led by party's district unit chief Jitendra Pratap Singh's brother Dharmendra, raised slogans demanding a change in the candidate for the Bahraich seat, sources said.

Chandrashekar Singh Azad is the candidate for the seat and according to the workers he has no idea about the basic problems being faced by the people in the constituency.

When contacted, Dharmendra said party workers want to meet Gandhi and apprise him of the situation.

The AICC general secretary had yesterday held a meeting with party workers and local leaders at the venue.

In a similar incident yesterday, a group of Congressmen jumped in front of Gandhi's cavalcade at Amusi airport in Lucknow, protesting denial of ticket to Subodh Srivastava from Lucknow central seat.
