Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leaders G Muddu Krishnama Naidu and S Chandramohan Reddy today demanded from Congress to clarify its stand on Telangana statehood.

The two senior TDP leaders told reporters here today, though the UPA headed by Congress included Telangana in its Common Minimum Programme in 2004, the home minister announced on December 9 the process of Telangana be commenced without consulting the UPA partners.

They said that all the UPA partners including DMK and NCP raised objections on the statement issued by home minister on December 9.

The two leaders demanded the Congress to clarify its stand on Telangana, before convening the all-party meet on January 5. They also demanded the Congress to clarify the fate of Pranab Mukherjee's committee on Telangana which was constituted earlier.

They also asked AICC president Sonia Gandhi what action she had intiated against the party's Parliament members and legislators from Andhra who were divided on Andhra against the single line resolution passed in Congress Legislature Party meet in which they resolved to leave the decion on Telangana to party high command.

The TDP leaders also demanded the Congress and Union government to reveal their stand on the formation of smaller states.

They questioned that why Congress is keen only on Telangana but not on other states' demands of smaller states like Vidarbha, Coorg, Bundelkhand, Harit Pradesh and Gorkhaland.

The TDP leaders also criticised that Union home minister P Chidamabaram and law minister Veerappa Moily had personally hatched a conspiracy to divide fast developing Andhra Pradesh into two states.

They said that Andhra Pradesh is developing ahead of Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

However, the TDP leaders were unable to clarify the party president Chandrababu Naidu's stand on the issue of Telangana but said that at present, Naidu is consulting leaders from all districts and the final decision will be taken by Januray 4.
