Congress leader gunned down by Maoists in Orissa

A Congress leader was gunned down by suspected Maoists at Durga village, about 40 from here today, police said.

The bullet riddled body of Anand Kirsani (38), Zilla Parishad member of Koraput, was found in a pool of blood around noon, they said.

Preliminary reports revealed involvement of Maoists in the killing as the deceased had received gun shots, Koraput district superintendent of police Anup Kumar Sahu said.

Investigation into the incident was on and additional force sent to the area, police said.
