CBI court summons IAS officer, 3 others in recruitment scam

The special CBI court today summoned senior a IAS officer and three other officials on December 9, in connection with the alleged recruitment scam in UP Information Department.

Special judge (CBI), Rekha Dixit summoned the IAS officer Mahesh Gupta, the then information director Raj Gopal Singh Verma, Prabhat Kumar Sinha and Akhilesh Chandra Shukla also posted in the information department then.

The accused persons are accused of criminal conspiracy and embezzlement.

In 2000, this alleged scam was highlighted by media and subsequently the CBI filed the chargesheet against these four on September 9, 2008.

The four are accused of massive irregularities in recruitment of group "C" employees in the state information department.
