Police have registered a case against three youths for allegedly abducting two dalit girls on the pretense of getting them married and then raping them for three days.

Police also claim to have arrested the prime suspect indentified as Gurtej Singh of Dala village, a dismissed CRPF Jawan.

Police said today that the victims were dalit sisters hailing from Phiday village of Ferozepur district but were residing with their maternal grandparents at Dala village of this district.

The prime suspect Gurtej Singh, a neighbour of the girls, developed friendly relations with the dalit sisters.

On July 13, he asked the girls to meet him at Moga where he would introduce them to two NRI youths they could marry.

The girls arrived at Moga and were taken by the three accused to the residence of Gurtej Singh's friend in Bhek Pacharian village near Zira in Ferozepur district.

The other two accused were identified as Jugraj Singh of Raikot and Jagdish Singh of Chakar village in Ludhiana district.

From Bhek village the accused hired a taxi and took both the victims to Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh where they kept them in a hotel for two days and committed rape there.

On July 16, the accused took the victims to Ludhiana and left them there while escaping themselves.

The same day the sisters went at their native village Phidey and on July 17, the victims informed parents about their abduction and gang rape.

The parents then took the victims to the police where their statements were recorded and a case was registered against the accused.

The police had both victims medically examined at Moga civil hospital.

Police investigations revealed that Gurtej Singh, the main accused, wanted to take revenge from the maternal uncle of the victims as he suspected that his dismissal from the CRPF was due to a complaint made by him.
