Along with these places, the AMC has continued its operation on eight sites where the demolition drive had already started few days back.
Through this massive operation at 11 sites, the civic body is planning to clear almost 12,000 square feet area from encroachment and illegal construction.
However, according to the residents of Kalupur, this move by AMC has been ineffective in keeping the builders at bay. The residents, mostly from the Saudagar Ni pol area, claimed that after the demolition, many builders have started re-constructing their buildings.
"Breaking a few walls and floors is not enough, instead they must destroy the entire building," said a resident of Saudagar Ni Pol. The resident, on anonymity, claimed that many builders have started using these buildings again. Another resident of the area claimed that a builder called 'Rana' has started giving his four storeyed building on rent after some 'minor' demolitions by AMC.
The residents wanted anonymity as the builder is well-known in the area for his devious activities.
Rana's building is located on street No. 3 of Saudagar Ni Pol, opposite the old Masjid. However, residents were not very open while talking about him. "Rana is known for his criminal activities, and we might face his wrath if we go against him," said a resident. A few days ago, AMC officials had issued a notice to the building asking the occupants to vacate the building before the demolition. But, immediately after the demolition of one floor, the occupants have once again started living in that building.
Apart from this building, residents have claimed that this practice is going on in other buildings of Kalupur area as well. The residents are also angry with half-hearted demolitions.
"They must bring down the entire building at once, otherwise, such buildings will be re-occupied by builders," said a resident of Saudagar Ni Pol.
