It was a drama of sort in the Metropolitan court on Wednesday when notorious history-sheeter Vijay Rajkumar Utamchandani alias Viju Body created ruckus. An adamant Body (35) had to be taken to the police station, where an FIR was lodged against him for getting into argument with police and then inviting the magistrate's ire.

Body was produced before the court as the police have filed a chargesheet against him and others. He has many cases against him. When the court was about to start in the post-lunch session, police officials brought Body into the courtroom.

But Body chose to sit on one of the chairs reserved for advocates and not in the corner where the accused are asked to sit. This ensued an argument between the police and Body. The argument grew stronger when he refused to leave the chair.

He argued that he was not yet a convict. He said he was just named in the chargesheet but the allegations were not yet proved. Why should he be made to sit in the corner where there are no chairs, benches? he asked the police. He was asked by the police to sit on the floor.

The issue got bigger and finally the court had to interfere. Body was then ordered to vacate the chair. The court, through the bench clerk, registered a complaint against Body for disturbing the court proceedings and creating ruckus in the courtroom. He was taken to Karanj police station.

Bench clerk Kunwar Makwana lodged an FIR against Viju Body at Karanj police station. Makwana stated in the FIR that when Body was asked to vacate the chair he screamed at the police officials, and when the judge interrupted, Body also shouted at him.
According to Karanj police inspector MN Mirza, the FIR against Body was lodged because of the "indecent language" he used to address the judge.

Body was nabbed by a special task force on August 25 and was brought to Sardarnagrar police station early this month. The police claim that he has many cases of theft, extortion, murder and other such serious offences against him.

Body's father Rajkumar was a cloth merchant in Naroda, and Vijay, a commerce graduate from Gujarat University, used to assist his father. He had his first brush with law when he was arrested for a case of scuffle in the area. After coming out of jail, he was involved in various small crimes. Vijay was earlier operating in Sardarnagar area, but of late he had expanded his network in Kalupur area.
