Ghanshyamsingh Vanar was irked as Govind Patel had molested his friend.
The BJP candidate for sarpanch post in Kapiyana village of Dholka taluka, Ghanshyamsingh Vanar, was arrested on Sunday in the case of murder of 65-year-old retired PWD engineer Govind Patel in Bopal. Patel was found dead in his farmhouse in Lapkaman in Bopal on Saturday.
According to preliminary investigation done by Bopal police and Local Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Rural, Vanar killed Patel as he molested his (Vanar's) family friend Pallavi. Incidentally, Pallavi is also a niece of Govind. Police arrested Vanar as well as Pallavi for the murder.
Police investigation revealed that Patel was disconnected from his family because of his arrogant attitude. He was an unmarried man. Patel had a farmhouse in Lapkaman near Bopal. He used to spend his day in the house and return to his home by evening with the security guard of the neighbouring house, Bakka. Pallavi, who is a real estate agent, used to visit him regularly to check his health.
One day, Patel sought sexual favours from Pallavi, saying that if she agreed he would transfer all his assets on her name. But Pallavi refused.
On Saturday, however, when Pallavi went to visit Patel at his farmhouse, Patel started molesting her. When she tried to escape, he hit her. However, Pallavi managed to escape and immediately called up Vanar and told him the incident.
Shocked by the incident, Vanar met her near the farmhouse. The couple went to the farmhouse to fight with Patel. Police sources revealed that Vanar and Patel had a heated argument. In anger, Vanar and Pallavi attacked Patel and strangled him. When they realised that Patel was dead, the couple locked the farmhouse and escaped.
When security guard Bakka went to see Patel, he found him dead.
He informed the police. When police investigated who was the last visitor to Patel, Pallavi's name was revealed. Police caught Pallavi after tracing her call. When the police interrogated her, she confessed to the crime. The police then arrested the couple.
Police further revealed that Pallavi's father was in construction business and Vanar who is a cousin brother of DySP, VD Vanar, was working there. It was there that Pallavi met Vanar. The two are also partners in a real estate venture.
