The BJP today sent a legal notice to Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh for his "insidious remarks" against party president Nitin Gadkari and demanded that properties owned by him, Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra be made public.

BJP secretary Kirit Somaiya sent a legal notice to Singh for his remarks against Gadkari. Singh had alleged that Gadkari had amassed huge wealth in a short span of time and his antecedents should be checked.

"A legal notice for defamation has been served by Kirit Somaiya's lawyer which asks for apology from Digvijay Singh... The BJP leader has asked for Singh's apology in 7 days," a statement issued by Somaiya said.

Singh had alleged that Somaiya was an accused in the stock market scam.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said while Digvijay Singh has levelled allegations against Gadkari, the "movable and immovable properties" of Singh, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and his brother-in-law Robert Vadra should also be investigated.

Somaiya's lawyer states that he had exposed the stock market scam and was a member of the joint parliamentary committee investigating the stock market scam.

"Somaiya has never been charged, accused in any scam including the stock market scam," his lawyer said.

The BJP leader himself maintained that it seems to be a Congress strategy to attack BJP leaders with baseless, absurd statements about corruption.
