Union law minister M Veerappa Moily today dubbed as politically motivated the BJP's demand for a JPC probe into the second generation telephony spectrum allocation and other scams.

"The BJP is politically dealing with the subject. This is a matter which has to be discussed in Parliament. They placed a demand for JPC but it has to be justified and that could be done only after a thorough discussion in the House," Moily told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

"Ultimately it is Parliment as a whole that will have to take a decision but they (BJP members) are not prepared to discuss. They want to hijack the entire decision by insisting on a JPC," Moily said.

Referring to recent developments in Karnataka, he said, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's continuance in office despite facing graft charges in the land scam was an indication that the BJP leadership has succumbed to pressure from within the party.

"Nepotism is so rampant there by ministers and the chief minister himself. The BJP high command first decides to remove them but finally gives in as he (Yeddyurappa) threatens," he said.

He also asserted that the BJP can succumb to pressure but the Congress would not.

Asked to comment on the Supreme Court's strong indictment of the Allahabad high court saying there was "something rotten" there, the Union law minister said he was not in a position to remark on that.

"Yes they have said that and it is a matter of concern but I need to talk to the Supreme court chief justice and others," he said.
