Condemning those Congress leaders, who were allegedly deliberately defying the instructions of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), former chief minister and leader of opposition in state assembly Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today advocated strong disciplinary action against such party leaders, who were trying to divide the Congress.

"I recommend strong disciplinary action against those Congress leaders, who are deliberately defying the instructions of state Congress chief Mohinder Singh Kay Pee", Bhattal, who was here to attend the death anniversary of Kay Pee's father, told reporters.

He pointed out that seven out of total ten Congress leaders who contested the assembly elections on party ticket, did not attend the party's dharna, allegedly on the instruction of former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, against whom Kay Pee had recently made a statement that the latter was not cooperating with him because of his being 'dalit', Bhattal said if the concerned leaders did not clarify any  genuine reason of their absence from party's programme, strict disciplinary action should be taken against those.

Without naming Capt Amarinder Singh, Bhattal said that any Congress leader, who supports or spreads factionalism in the party, should be taken to task. Seven out of total ten candidates who contested the last assembly election, including sitting Congress MLA from Nakodar Amarjit Singh Samra, allegedly deliberately did not attend the protest march organised by Kay Pee against the state government on September 25.

Contrary to this, all such Congress leaders were seen rubbing their shoulders to mark their presence on the recent visit of Capt Amarinder Singh on October three.

Meanwhile, Bhattal condemned the threat letter received by the Congress leaders allegedly written by the terrorist outfit, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and said that Congress leaders would not bow down against any type of threat. "We want an impartial probe by a Central agency to prevail upon the truth behind such a threat to congress leaders", Bhattal said while demanding adequate security to congress leaders.

She also criticised the state government for allegedly doling out the Punjab Institute of Medical Science (PIMS), a prestigious project of worth Rs2000 crore on a petty price of Rs133 crore to an Akali leader and threatened that PPCC would soon approach the court to scrap the deal.

"If voted to power, we will definitely scrap the shabby deal", she added.
