"Bahut dhanyawad" is how US President Barack Obama thanked India for the welcome accorded to him and his wife Michelle during their state visit.

Addressing Parliament today, Obama said he and his wife had "been welcomed at every step" in India.

"Please accept my deepest thanks... bahut dhanyawad," Obama said in his opening remarks.

Earlier, he had faltered slightly while uttering the words "Lok Sabha" and "Rajya Sabha".

Obama signed the Golden Book in Parliament, while Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar stood by smiling.
