The in-charge director general of Police, Chitranjan Singh plans to ensure that the basics of policing are followed.

Singh said this is part of his efforts to keep pace with the development and ensure that trust of the people is maintained.
Singh has assured the people of better policing and more visibility of cops across the state. Talking exclusively to DNA, Singh said that the increase in visibility of police across the state will help curb crime.

"Police presence makes a difference. My prime aim is to create fear among criminals and potential trouble makers by increasing the visibility of police," Singh said.

He further said that crime in the state is expected to see a rise as Gujarat attracts migrants from across the country.

"Most of the migrants come here to find work and are law abiding citizens. But some also happen to be criminal elements. Our work is to keep a tab on such elements," he said.

As migration increases, crime rate is bound to go up but effective policing can help curb the trend, he said.

Singh is also all set to rehash the basic concept of policing this time.

"We need to concentrate more on patrolling to control crime and I will ensure that it happens effectively," he said.

But Singh clarified that he will ensure that the common man is not harassed in the process. He said that the thrust will be on to ensure that optimum use of available resources is made for the best results.

Singh holds charge of director general of Police and is also the director of the Anti Corruption Bureau of the state.
