In a resolution adopted at a meeting of its Central Advisory Committee here, the saffron outfit opposed a recent Kerala high court order directing the state government to take control of a famous temple at Thiruvananthapuram.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said the Allahabad high court verdict on Ayodhya title suits trifurcating the disputed land was totally unacceptable.
In a resolution adopted at a meeting of its Central Advisory Committee here, the saffron outfit opposed a recent Kerala high court order directing the state government to take control of a famous temple at Thiruvananthapuram.
"The High Court’s ruling to trifurcate the sacred piece of land and to hand over a third of it to Muslims is totally unacceptable," it said.
The resolution, however, noted with satisfaction that "the high court has acknowledged that the place where Sri Ram Lala is Virajmaan (seated) is indeed the deity’s place of birth - the Ramjanmabhoomi."
"In the past, the Centre had said it would honour Hindu sentiments if it was proved that a temple existed at the disputed site. Now, the time has come for the government to fulfil its promise.
"Similarly, Muslim leaders too had said they would forego their claim on the Ramjanmabhoomi if it was proved that a mosque was built after demolishing a Hindu place of worship. The community, now has a unique opportunity to improve its ties with Hindus," the resolution said.
In another resolution, the VHP said "the Kerala High Court order directing the state government to take over the Padmanabham temple in Thiruvananthapuram amounted to an interference in Hindu beliefs and traditions."
On the Sabarimala shrine tragedy, the resolution said “Kerala government’s apathy was obviously responsible for the death of more than 100 devotees."
