The director of Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, Prof Ashok Ranchhod is leaving the institute to attend a high level course on Education Management at Harvard University.

Prof Ranchhod, who had joined MICA in October 2009 from Southampton University, UK, put in his papers on Tuesday.
"The decision was taken after discussing with the head of the Mudra Foundation and the governing council," said Prof Ranchhod, who had also informed the council about his future plans to return to UK and especially his first love, research and writing, by the end of the term.
He also promised to return to MICA as a visiting faculty and as a research scholar.
Meanwhile, Prof Ranchhod is helping the interim committee headed by Prof Arbind Sinha, senior faculty member at MICA, and the council to hunt for a new dean and director.
Since he took over as MICA's director in 2009, professor Ranchhod has made significant changes in the institute and its curriculum. The director had envisioned MICA as a global premier school in communications management with a strong focus on research.
"The most satisfying changes have been the intangible ones which range from redesigning our curriculum and making it more holistic and focused; reduction in classroom hours, thereby providing students with more time to engage in other activities aimed at their all-round development and encouraging our students to think out of the box. MICA has also become the preferred Indian partner for World Advertising and Research Council (WARC)."
Besides joining Harvard, Prof Ranchhod also intends to take a well deserved break and go on a swimming holiday in Sardinia.
"Post that I will join a university in UK and run my own consultancy on marketing and education management. I am also looking forward to be back with my family," he added.
