Prime witness in double-murder case killed in accident in Haryana

One man, a prime witnesses in a double-murder case here, today died on the spot after a motorcycle which he was riding was hit by a car.

The incident took place at Sector 4 area here when Rattan Lal, 35, and his nephew Ashok Kumar, 30, also a witness in the case, was riding the bike, police said.

While Lal died on the spot, Kumar sustained serious injures and is rushed to the trauma centre here, they said.

According to their lawyer Hari Om Sharma, both Lal and Kumar were to furnish their concluding evidence in the court tomorrow in the double-murder case in which elder brother of Lal and father of Kumar were allegedly shot dead following an altercation by their neighbour Shyam Pahalwan and his accomplices in Uttam Nagar colony here on November 21, 2008.

Pahalwan, who was arrested in this connection, is still behind the bars.

The lawyer alleged that the accident was a deliberate attempt by the accused brother to eliminate the main eye witnesses in the case.
