Dismissing rumours about possible change of guard in Arunachal Pradesh, the APCC today denied reports of internal strife in the party and clarified that no change in leadership was in the offing.

Terming the rumours as "concocted and stage-managed" to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, APCC spokesman Vishal P Nabam in a statement said that the entire exercise was a handiwork of "frustrated few with vested interest."

"There is no question of leadership change as all rank and file of the party repose full faith and confidence on Khandu's leadership," Nabam added.

With a chain of development plans and programmes as his priorities, Khandu had proved beyond doubt as a true, capable and dedicated leader, he said.

Appreciating Khandu's untiring efforts in pursuing New Delhi to speed up development activities in the state, the spokesman said that "it is because of the present chief minister, many development packages including the ambitious Prime Minister's package could be turned into reality, which on earlier occasions was a distant dream."

"As announced immediately after taking over the reins, Khandu was instrumental in reviving the sick Apex Bank, initiated the works of 2,192 km Trans-Arunachal Highway at cost of Rs 12,513 crore besides infrastructure development in the state capital," Nabam pointed out.

He said, the annual operating plan has taken a jump from Rs 1,132 crore in 2007-08 to Rs 2,500 in 2010-11 apart from Rs 1400 crore from hydropower projects which among other developmental works had also helped in implementing the sixth pay commission recommendations at par with the central government officials.
