Terming the purported "anger" of Congress leaders against the Mayawati-led UP government as a mere "drama",  Samajwadi Party Friday said the Centre would have reined in the state government "if it had actually wanted".

Anger of Congress against the state government is a mere "drama" as there are institutions through which it could have put an effective check on it (state) if it had actually wanted, state SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said here.

"We are channelising this anger against the state government by giving shape to a struggle, but where is the anger of Congress and its leaders going," he asked referring to reported views of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in Bhadohi-Mirzapur that the state of affairs in UP filled him with anger.

On the issue of corruption, Yadav said, "The questions raised by Anna Hazare and Ramdev are fully justified and there should be a check on corruption, and the black money stashed away in foreign banks should be brought back."

Yadav, who is currently on the sixth phase of his state-wide 'kranti rath yatra', said, once his party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh it would punish the officials who are contributing in loot of public funds by assisting political leaders.
