Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy this evening discussed the law and order situation in Telangana with home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and director general of police K Aravinda Rao.

He reviewed the situation in the backdrop of violent incidents in the city during the `Chalo Assembly' (march to Assembly) agitation by students and the 48-hour bandh call given by Telangana Joint Action Committee beginning tomorrow.

Police fired teargas shells to disperse the agitating students on the Osmania University campus and near the Nizam College hostel when they pelted stones at the police.

The student mobs also damaged railway properties and set a bus on fire at Habsiguda here. Many state road transport buses were damaged by irate mobs in the state capital.

Many students and protesters were taken into custody, the chief minister was reportedly informed.

A violent incident was also reported in Sanga Reddy town when a group of students stormed into the district Collectorate building and broke a glass door.

The CM reportedly directed the DGP to deal with such incidents with a firm hand but "without any excesses."

Meanwhile, the Group of Ministers headed by finance minister A Ramanarayana Reddy held talks with leaders of Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee to end the non-cooperation agitation being carried out by the employees
in the region since February 17.

"We are implementing all the promises made to the employees. Hence, they should call off their agitation which is severely affecting the administration and the state's financial position," the finance minister later said.
