Amar Singh nugget puts friend Sanjay Dutt in a fix

Sanjay Dutt seems to be in big trouble again. His latest predicament has been caused not by a foe but a friend.

The actor’s political mentor and stormy petrel Amar Singh created a sensation at a public meeting in Allahabad on Wednesday by saying that underworld don Chhota Rajan had called Sanjay Dutt and had told him that a top leader had hired shooters to gun down Amar Singh during his ‘padyatra’ in eastern UP.

Dutt has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment under the Arms Act for possession of arms allegedly given to him by Dawood’s brother Anees Ibrahim. Dutt is out on bail, and legal experts say the latest disclosure could prompt the CBI to apply for cancellation of his bail.

“Sanjay Dutt told me that he got a call from Chhota Rajan asking him to tell me that my life is in danger, and that a top leader has hired shooters to kill me,” Amar Singh said at a public meeting of his fledgling outfit Lok Manch in Allahabad. Significantly, Dutt did not contradict the statement in his speech later.
