AIADMK alleges scam in implementation of free garment scheme in Puducherry

The opposition AIADMK has charged the Congress government in Puducherry with attempting to commit a scam in implementation of free garment scheme for the poor.

Party's local unit secretary A Anbalagan told reporters that the chief secretary had intervened and prevented it by verifying sub-standard saris and sending samples to a Coimbatore based research institute.

He said the government should also beware of rice meant for PDS outlets being brought from Tamil Nadu for being polished and sold by some merchants for free rice scheme.

He urged the local administration department to ensure that schemes recommended by legislators under MLA area development scheme are implemented on time.
