In a joint operation, Sola and Navrangpura police nabbed a four-member gang, including a woman, for blackmailing a call centre employee for having illicit relations with her.

To grab money from her former boyfriend, she took help of three men and threatened him to publish the photos and book him. However, their plan didn't succeed as the man informed his friend in Navrangpura police, who nabbed the gang on Tuesday night near Gujarat High Court.

Priti aka Pinky Rajendra Barot, a resident of Anand Vihar bungalow in Tragad village of Sabarmati area, used work at a call centre at Infocity in Gandhinagar. Two years back, she came in contact with one 21-year-old Navin Patel, a resident of Adarsh nagar in Sector 4 of Gandhinagar.

Priti, who is 37 and married, and Patel became friends as they used to work in the same place. After some time, Patel began visiting Priti at her house and this became a regular habit as Priti's husband Rajendra did not live with her.

Since Priti had to manage all household finances on her own, Patel would help her as they were friends. However, a few months back, Patel cut off his relations with Priti and this put Priti in financial trouble.

To get rid of her financial crunch, Priti made a plan and took help of one Nayan Pavaiya, who used to work as a mason at her house. Nayan convinced two of his friends, Vipul Sumad (28) and Jitendra Prajapati (24), to help him out. According to the plan, Priti called Patel and asked him to meet her at her residence on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Patel, Priti lured him to get cozy with her. As soon as they got intimate, three men stormed into the room and took pictures of their being in a compromising position.

Nayan identified himself as an ACP and his friend Sumad posed as a constable. Whereas Prajapati showed his 'Press' I-card and asked Patel to give Rs25 lakh if he wanted to live with a clean image. All of them finally agreed to take Rs15 lakh from Patel to cover up the entire issue. Patel was asked to arrive near Gujarat High Court with money on Tuesday at 8:30 pm.

Meanwhile, Patel explained the entire matter to his friend Vinubha, a constable at Navrangpura police station. Along with Vinubha, Sola police nabbed all the four accused at 8:30 pm on Tuesday when they came to collect the money.

Later, all the accused were handed over to Sabarmati police, as Priti's residence falls under this jurisdiction. The cops recovered fake I-card of a newspaper City Crime, and I-card of Priti showing her as a member of an Anti Corruption Board. According to police, Priti orchestrated the plan as she wanted to earn quick bucks.
