After three days of disruptions, BlackBerry services have been restored in India today, the smartphone maker Research In Motion said while ruling out the possibility of hacking for the outages across the world.

A top official of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) said traffic is flowing and there has been "significant improvement" in all services in India.

Responding to a query on whether BlackBerry services have been fully restored in India, RIM's Senior Vice President and Managing Director Patrick Spence replied in the affirmative. "Yes. Services have been restored. There may be some a few backlogs in messaging and it is being restored," he said on a conference call.

Underlining that India is a "an important" market, he said RIM is working 24x7 to resolve the problem. India has around one million BlackBerry users. RIM Co-founder Mike Lazaridis apologised for the service disruptions worldwide. "I apologise for the services outages this week... It is too soon to say the issue has been fully resolved."

"We are approaching normal service levels in Europe, Middle East, India and Africa," he said in a video message posted on the company website. The company would leave no stone unturned to understand how the failure happened. It will also ensure that such instances would not happen in the future, Spence noted.

When asked about the possibility of hacking or any other external attempts as the reason for the outages, Spence said, "At this point of time, we did look at that question and... it is not related to anything to do with security perspective."
