The parents of slain teenager Aarushi Talwar today surrendered their passports in a local court following a direction by the Supreme Court which had stayed their trial in connection with the 2008 Noida double murder case.

Satish Tamta, the counsel for Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, submitted the passports in the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Puspendra Kumar Singh.

The Supreme Court on March 19 stayed the proceedings against the dentist couple in a trial court in connection with the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

The apex court, however, asked them to surrender their passports in the trial court by Monday.

The judge directed Tamta to file an affidavit stating the passports were genuine which the counsel did.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found murdered at her house in Noida on May 16, 2008. A day after, Hemraj's body was found in the same building.
