8 held on charges of practising ayurveda without authorisation

Targeting unauthorised and fake practitioners of ayurveda here, an autonomous body under the health ministry, along with police, conducted raids in two localities in east Delhi and nabbed eight of them.

The raids were conducted by Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad (DBCP) in Trilokpuri and Chilla village in east Delhi with the help of city police.

The Parishad's target were 20 aurvedic practitioners in the two localities, according to the DBCP.

"We could manage to nab only eight, as 12 others managed to flee. We have asked the eight to appear before us tomorrow with documents to prove that they are genuine practitioners," Dr Farhat Umar of DBCP said.

"We conducted the raids with the help of police," he said.
