A class VI student of a municipal school in Maninagar was stabbed and injured by his juniors in a scuffle in front of the school on Thursday afternoon. The injured student was rushed to a hospital, where his condition was reported to be out of danger on Friday. The juniors, who are class V students, have been arrested and sent to a juvenile home.

Amraiwadi police said Pinal (name changed), a student of class VI at municipal school No 11 and 12, was stabbed by Ketan and Mihir (names changed), both class V students of the same school. The incident took place around 1pm in front of the school in Maninagar East.

As the school got over, 15-year-old Pinal, who is a resident of Amraiwadi, set out for his home. "However, Ketan and Mihir rushed to him. Ketan stabbed him in stomach and neck as Mihir held the victim by hand," a complaint filed by Pinal's uncle stated. Ketan and Mihir are both 13.

After noticing them fighting, other students of the school rushed to rescue Pinal. His parents were informed and the teenager was taken to LG Hospital.

However, Amraiwadi police inspector MD Upadhyay said that the scuffle was started by Pinal. "Pinal was beating other students and Ketan and Mihir intervened. In the resultant scuffle, Ketan stabbed Pinal with a knife used to cut vegetables," he said.

Later on Friday, Amraiwadi police arrested the Ketan and Mihir. They were sent to a juvenile home in city after being produced in court. Police have also recovered the knife used in the assault.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Pinal's uncle, Amraiwadi police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Ketan and Mihir and started further investigation.
