5 arrested for allegedly printing fake certificates in Assam

Five persons have been arrested for allegedly printing fake certificates, marksheets and driving licenses in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district in Rangiya today, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested one Ruhul Amin, suspected to be the mastermind of the racket. Based on his interrogation four others have been arrested from Balisatra and Dhunibala of Rangiya sub-division of the district.

The five were arrested for allegedly printing fake certificates and marksheets of Gauhati University, Secondary Education Board of Assam and driving licenses.

The police seized 60 fake rubber stamps, one computer set and several blank certificates, marksheets and driving licenses.

The mastermind Amin had been earlier arrested twice for printing fake currency notes.

The other arrested persons are Mirjul Alam, Mainul Haque, Jayanta Madhab Das and Prasanta Pratim Das.

The five arrested persons were later produced before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate AB Laskar who remanded them to two days' police custody.
